About Us.
music+pictures is a music production company and edit boutique based in Chicago. We compose original music for advertisers, filmmakers and television programs, offering non-linear edit services to the same. Many of the placements of our music are the result of it's availability in high-quality music production libraries. We also work with several publishers who provide music to television shows and film studios. music+pictures is an ASCAP publisher as well, established in 1986 to administer a variety of releases on legendary 'house' record labels Chicago Trax and DJ International Records during the late 1980's and 1990's.
Under pseudonyms "Boris Badenough", "Farmboy", "Addison and Sheffield", "BNC" and "Xipe Totec", founder and composer Dean Anderson produced a string of successful pop and dance records including three Billboard-charting dance singles "Hey Rocky", "House Ain't Givin' Up", and "Move". In 1996 we began producing music for television and cinema and grew from a few placements that year, to over five hundred placements in 2000. During this time, m+p also edited music vids for Public Enemy, Nine-Inch Nails, Sound Garden and many others.
Since then songs and themes produced and composed by music+pictures have found placement in dozens of television productions and several film scores. In addition to servicing music production libraries and publishers we've also been hired to post-score full-length theatrical projects as well as short-format commercial tracks.
With a growing number of surveyed titles over a broad spectrum of musical styles, music+pictures is coming into it's own. Several extremely talented composers have joined forces with music+pictures in recent years, bringing even more depth and creativity to the company. We hope you'll enjoy listening to the compilations posted here. Our music can also be found at third-party portals like Pond5 (https://www.pond5.com?ref=musicandpictures), one of the world's largest purveyors of licensed media.
Although we use MP3 files for speed and flexibility at the website, every song represented has a 24-bit, 48K .wav format master file, deliverable on disk or via broadband. In 2012 we began receiving on-air placement data from Tunesat, a digital tracking company. Valuable not only to track music use, Tunesat provides a more complete picture of placements on a global scale.
We're flexible with regards to budget and licensing considerations and can turn around custom compositions as well - to provide you with exactly what you need, when you need it, at an affordable price.
