2019 brings NEW placements in television and film.
It's early February 2019 and last week I woke up to the headlines here in Chicago that:
"Chicago temperatures colder than surface of Mars". How nice. It was -47 degrees fahrenheit with the wind chill, and even though I've been through some cold days in the Midwest that morning when the wind hit your face it hurt. And so came the usual "why am I here?" questions... So much for the weather. ASCAP released it's quarterly International distribution statement and our writers KICKED ASS again! We had placements in 44 countries including Iceland (how ironic) and Vietnam! Our music appeared in programs ranging from Tour Le Monde En Parlait in Canada to Galaxy Park in Belgium and the shows which used our work last quarter continue to use it and in some cases added a track or two. For the "big boys" this news probably wouldn't be 'fit to print' but for us it's still EXCITING to see so many placements in so many places!
You may have noticed two brand new music categories on the site. Ring Of Fire and American Acoustics provide fresh new sound from some brand new composers: Naren Hingorani - who writes in multiple styles and is batting 1.000 for music & pictures (practically every track he's composed has been licensed!) penned "Palermo" and "Down The Line", both of which you can hear in the American Acoustics collection. Harold Barney a/k/a Jasper Stone is also producing outstanding new pieces as well. "Bad Ass Blues" is a fine example and is also in American Acoustics. A warm welcome is extended to both maestros!
With each quarterly distribution, our PRO (Performing Rights Organization) issues a list of where our music has been placed, including the name of the program, the country, and of course the title. I still get excited every single time our works are used, so here's a few that surprised and thrilled the home office, though there were many:
Composer Rick Sankey's "It's Your Bling" has basically become a theme on the comedy channel hit Impractical Jokers. The show used "Bling" over a 150 times in 2018, and is on track for more this year! "Mastermind", a track written by yours truly, saw similar numbers of placements in Pawn Stars and Hard Core Pawn. Two tracks which I penned with songstress Shay Jones made new inroads after long runs on The Bernie Mac Show: "Step Into My World" and "Get Funky" made regular placements in The Mentalist, Hawaii Five-0, and The Office over the past year! Etric Lyons' "Fleet Of Dreams" drew dozens of placements in both Television (Place In The Sun & Galaxy Park) and Internet radio, while Jr. Williams has seen widespread and multiple uses from his Blues collection "From The Delta To Detroit" (SCDV 224). Another blues release - "Memphis Blues" (SCDV 461) featuring Castro Coleman is tearing up both U.S. and European television shows, more specifics on Castro's success to come. ALL of our composers have received multiple plays from their respective releases - space allotted here limits us from mentioning them all - CONGRATULATIONS TEAM!
